Welcome to SEN Tutors

Welcome to SEN Tutors; we work with young people of all ages, from Early Years right up to Higher Education. Our team of vetted, highly qualified and experienced tutors are here to help your child with whatever learning challenges he or she is experiencing. Working with families, local authorities and schools, we help a variety of different students, and tailor our tutoring sessions according to their individual needs, including:

  • special educational needs (SEN)
  • lack of self-confidence and anxiety
  • lack of enthusiasm or motivation
  • those who have fallen behind with school work
  • those struggling with school work
  • children who are struggling to meet their full potential
  • youngsters who require home-schooling or Education Other Than at School (EOTAS) for whatever reason.

Our philosophy is built on the idea that children need to be nurtured and in charge of their own education, which fosters self-belief. Putting children at the centre of the learning process means they are more likely to be successful in overcoming their learning challenges as we listen to their experiences, interests and ideas. They then become part of the planning and tailoring of their own learning. We also welcome assistance from parents or carers if any child has challenges communicating. The result of all this is that these children blossom, fully developing their independence and confidence in asserting their own ideas.

Developing Confidence

It does not necessarily mean that there is something "wrong" with children who find the learning environment at school challenging. Many times, it is simply the learning style that is at fault. After all, we are all unique, with different ways of seeing the world. A copy-and-paste cookie-cutter approach does not work for everyone. In these circumstances, it is the teaching style and approach that needs to be altered, not the student. That is where we excel. We realise that tutors need to adapt their teaching to suit the way in which the individual child learns. In order to do this, we take the time to get to know your child so that we can effectively design teaching and learning around the needs of each child, their learning style and goals. This is also discussed with parents or carers.

In addition to this, we are also very flexible with regard to the needs and requirements of each family, so you can either have a tutor visit your child at home, travel to the tutor's home yourself, or have a tutoring session online.
